One of the most crucial pieces of backpacking equipment has to be the tent that you use as if this lets you down you could be in allot of trouble.
So backpacking tents are made to an incredibly high quality and so can withstand extreme weather conditions. They do this by using very tough materials and aerodynamic designs and they are also great at keeping the warmth in the tent which is very good if you are up a very cold mountain.
The other crucial aspect of a backpacking tent is the weight of the tent as you are going to be carrying it. The materials used in backpacking tents are very light which is amazing when you consider how tough and durable they are, the weights do vary though and so it is wise to check these as you shop around for a backpacking tent.
The level of backpacking tent that you buy depends on the conditions that you are likely to face. If you are backpacking in the British summer then you are unlikely to need a top of the range model and so a cheap backpacking tent will probably do but if you are going to be experiencing extreme conditions then a higher quality backpacking tent is essential.
